Reporting content and contacting us
This page explains how to report content to Zap Live that is illegal or breaks the terms of use, even if you don't have an account, and how the authorities can contact us. Zap Live is published by ZapLive Limited, in Ireland.
From the app
The quickest way is to report from the app: on a post, a comment, a profile, a chat or a sound, choose «Report» and the reason, and add a note if you like. When you report a chat you can attach the last 5 messages: they're end-to-end encrypted, and without them we can't see what happened. Reports are reviewed by a person, usually within 24 hours, and you get the outcome in your Inbox. The person you reported doesn't know it was you.
Illegal content
If you think content on Zap Live is illegal, write to info@zaplive.app with «Illegal content» in the subject line, even if you don't have an account, and include:
- where it is: the link to the post, if someone sent it to you, or the username of whoever posted it and a description that lets us find it;
- why you think it's illegal, with enough detail for us to understand it;
- your name and email address, which you can leave out if the report concerns the sexual abuse of minors;
- a statement that, in good faith, what you write is accurate and complete.
We confirm that we've received it, then tell you what we decided and why. If we remove the content we also tell whoever posted it, with the reason and how to appeal the decision.
Copyright
For a copyright infringement, write to info@zaplive.app with «Copyright» in the subject line, or report it from the app with the reason «Copyright infringement». How we handle it, and what happens to anyone who infringes copyright repeatedly, is set out in the terms of use, in the sections «Reporting a copyright infringement» and «Repeated copyright infringement».
United States: DMCA notice
To enforce a copyright under United States law, you can send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). The agent designated to receive it is Sufyan Arif, at info@zaplive.app, with «DMCA» in the subject line. The notice must contain:
- the signature, which may be electronic, of the owner or of someone authorised to act on their behalf;
- the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed or, if there is more than one, a representative list;
- the content you believe is infringing, with the information needed to find it on Zap Live, such as the link to the post or the username and a description;
- your name, address, phone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, their agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorised to act on their behalf.
Once we receive a complete notice, we remove the content and tell whoever posted it.
United States: counter-notice
If your content was removed because of a DMCA notice and you think it was a mistake, or that the content was mistaken for something else, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. It must contain:
- your signature, which may be electronic;
- the content that was removed and where it was before it was removed;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and phone number;
- a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the district where your address is or, if you live outside the United States, for any district in which Zap Live may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice or their agent.
We forward the counter-notice to whoever sent the notice. If within 10 business days they don't let us know that they have filed a lawsuit to have the content removed, we put it back online between the 10th and the 14th business day after receiving the counter-notice.
Anyone who sends a notice or a counter-notice knowing that it contains false statements may be held liable for damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)). Anyone who repeatedly infringes copyright loses their account, as the terms of use say.
Intimate images posted without consent
If there is an intimate image or video of you on Zap Live that was posted without your consent, even if it is fake or created with artificial intelligence, report it from the app with the reason «Sexual content or nudity», or write to info@zaplive.app with «Intimate images» in the subject line and include:
- who you are, with your signature, which may be electronic, or who you represent if you're writing on behalf of someone else;
- where the content is, with the link to the post or the username of whoever posted it and a description;
- a statement that, in good faith, the content was posted without the consent of the person shown, with anything that helps us understand this;
- how to contact you.
We act on a valid request within 48 hours of receiving it, as the TAKE IT DOWN Act requires in the United States, and we also try to remove identical copies we know of. If the person shown is a minor, the «Child safety» page applies. In Italy you can also contact the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, the Italian data protection authority, which has a specific procedure against the spreading of intimate images without consent (Article 144-bis of the Italian Privacy Code).
Minors
Anything involving the exploitation or abuse of minors must be reported straight away: from the app with the reason «Child safety», or by writing to info@zaplive.app with «Child safety» in the subject line. What we do, and who the contact person is, is explained on the «Child safety» page. If a minor is in immediate danger, first of all call 112, or the emergency number in your country.
Requests from the authorities
Authorities can send removal orders and requests for data to info@zaplive.app, with «Authority request» in the subject line. We carry out valid orders in accordance with Irish and European law and tell the authority what we have done; unless the authority asks us not to, we also inform the person concerned. We can't give anyone the content of direct messages and calls, because it's end-to-end encrypted and we don't have it, except for messages that someone has attached to a report: we can only hand over the data we have, described in the privacy policy.
If we become aware of a criminal offence that endangers someone's life or safety, we tell law enforcement straight away.
The point of contact
Zap Live's single point of contact is info@zaplive.app, for people who use the app and for the authorities: for the authorities of the Member States, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services it is the one provided for by Article 11 of the Digital Services Act (DSA), for people who use the app the one in Article 12. It also receives removal orders for terrorist content under Regulation (EU) 2021/784. People who use the app can also write to us from Settings → Report a problem. You can write in Italian or English, and a person always replies, not an automated program.
At the same address, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, the Italian data protection authority, can notify us of its orders concerning intimate images spread without consent, as provided for by Article 144-bis of the Italian Privacy Code.
